The rooms Matter more than the deal

There’s something we need to talk about. Not because anything is broken. But because something better is possible.

For a while, we’ve had a “coupons” channel in the Brolo Discord. And truthfully…it served a purpose. People shared deals. Saved a few bucks. Found some good smokes at a better price.

No harm in that.

But if we’re being honest…
it never really felt like us.

Buying cigars online, especially from big box retailers, is efficient. It’s convenient. It’s often cheaper.

But it’s also… quiet.

No handshake.
No “what are you smoking?”
No unexpected conversation that turns into a two-hour sit.

No stories.

And that’s the part that matters most.

Because cigars were never just about tobacco.
They were always about people.

There’s a reason the best conversations don’t happen in a shopping cart.

They happen in lounges. In worn leather chairs. Under low lights. With a guy you’ve never met before who somehow feels like you’ve known him for years. That’s where:

  • You try something new because someone handed it to you

  • You learn about a blend from someone who actually smoked it

  • You laugh harder than you expected to

  • You stay longer than you planned

That’s the culture.

That’s the industry.

And that’s what we’re here to protect.

So we’re making a call.

We’re retiring the coupons channel.

Not because saving money is bad.
Not because online retailers are the enemy.

But because it doesn’t build what we’re trying to build.

Brolo was never meant to be a deal aggregator.
It was meant to be a room.

A place where people show up.
A place where conversations happen.
A place where connection actually means something.

In its place, we’re doubling down on something better.

The Lounge Spotlight channel.

This is where it gets interesting.

Instead of asking:
“Where can I get this cheapest?”

We start asking:
“Where did you have a great smoke?”

  • What lounge made you feel welcome?

  • Who runs a shop worth supporting?

  • Where did you have one of those nights you didn’t want to end?

Because those places matter.

They’re the backbone of this entire industry.

Every time you walk into a lounge, you’re doing more than buying a cigar. You’re keeping a small business alive, supporting the people who create space for community, investing in the future of cigar culture.

That owner behind the counter?
They’re not just selling cigars.

They’re curating an experience.

And if we want this thing…this culture, this brotherhood, this ritual…to last…

We have to show up for it.

Let’s be clear.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a value buyer.

Everyone has a budget. Everyone hunts a deal from time to time. That’s part of the game.

But it can’t be the only way we engage.

Because if everything becomes transactional…
we lose what made it special in the first place.

This is what Brolo is about.

Not just the cigar in your hand….
but the people sitting around you.

So next time you’re deciding where to buy…

Maybe skip the extra 10% discount.

Go sit in a lounge.
Talk to someone new.
Stay a little longer than you planned.

Then come back to the Discord and tell us about it.

We’ll be waiting.

Light Up & Lean In.
